May:
Lots going on this year! First of all, I've joined a wonderful little co-op gallery here in Portland. Check out Sylvia Kania Gallery if you're ever in town. It's a very funky and fun place -- you can even bring your dog! -- and there are some incredibly talented artists involved.
I'll be joining the other artists at The Gallery at Diamond Cove again this summer. It's another wonderful place if you're in Portland. Just jump on the Casco Bay Lines ferry and head out to Great Diamond Island. The gallery is in an old carriage house.
On the other side of the world now, I'll be exhibiting at the Form & Färg Gallery in Eskilstuna Sweden again. We'll open that show on May 30th and it will run through June 8th. I will put up a poster as soon as they're available.
From there I am going to a wonderful gallery in Gliwice Poland for the very first time. I'm very excited about this. I believe we'll be opening that exhibition on the 10th of June. To quote Merv Griffin: more to come . . .
The House of Puddles benefit continues, please order a print to help out Marilyn's great house of hounds. When the economy gets tough, it's artists and non-profits who suffer the most, I think. Also, in May a couple of my prints will be auctioned off on EBAY to help House of Puddles get through a big financial crunch. I'll put the EBAY link on this page as long as it's active.
And finally, for those who can't get to any of these, the Daily Print goes on. For over a year now I've been sending out a print every day (except Saturday -- that's whatt tv cartoons are for!) for admiration or sale, whichever. They're smaller than exhibition prints, but nice, and quite affordable. So if you'd like to sign up, the more the merrier! If you don't like email, you can also receive them in your feed reader.

Winter!
The best news ever! In April of 2009 IKEA will be printing and selling a 5 image art card pack of my botanicals. A special thanks to all who made this possible!

The daily photo blog is up and running now -- though don't hold me to a new photo every day until the holiday season is over. It's great fun, though, and I hope people will feel free to comment on the photos. Scraps
I've also disabled hotlinking to my site. Too many photographs are being used around the web without my permission. Copyright is am important thing to pay attention to, folks. If you would like to use one of my images in a blog or as an avatar, please email me and I will certainly allow you to use it as long as you link back to this site and acknowledge me. The blanket hotlinking means that some folks who have my images on their sites and have acknowledged me may be blocked now. Please email me and I will take care of it.

I was invited to join the group of fine photographers at Lensmodern last month. It will take me a while to get things uploaded, but I'm working on it. Take a look around, and see what you think!
My dreams of blogging and uploading a daily photograph were a bit ambitious, I'm afraid. -- It's the darkroom that claims me, and I suppose for that I should be grateful.

I'm slowly changing the site over to flash galleries, the first of which can be seen here and here. I'd love any comments or suggestions -- just use the contact links sprinkled accross the site. Some folks using Safari have had trouble with the Flash galleries. If you are one of these folks, please let me know. Likewise, if you're using Safari and not having any trouble, please let me know. email me
Also, I've added a section of daily photos, thoughts, etc. A sort of blog without the interactive elements. Hopefully later this summer I'll migrate everything to a server that supports MySQL and set up a real blog. That wonderful Emily Dickinson line always comes to mind: I wrote a letter to a world that never wrote to me.
It's all in the writing . . .

I've gotten word from the editors of Black & White Magazine that my work has received a merit award, and will be given a 2 page spread in an upcoming Special Issue. Due out in early June -- but not to be confused with the regular June issue. A special thanks to editor Henry Rasmussen for his patience with my file snafu.

A few notes:
This site was designed using Morris Fuller Benton's very beautiful Parisian font. If you would like to see it as I do, you can download the font. So much for fonts . . .
For print pricing, please use the contact link at the top of each gallery page, or on the main page. All prints are made by hand in the darkroom. I ship prints matted but not framed, and for the most part they are 8,9, or 10 inch sqauares. A fiber based darkroom print far exceeds anything that can be shown on a monitor; if you receive a print and are not satisfied with it, you are welcome to return it for a full refund minus shipping costs.
About myself: I have a deep respect for things as they are, and the camera's ability to find the spirit in the ordinary things of everyday life. By the physical work of film and emulsions and traditional printing, I am bound to history, and in this binding find great freedom to move forward, following my own vision.
It's a work in progress . . .
